Followed the step-by-step instructions to place a Triggered Limit Order Entry with IB trading service. The trigger line appears successfully but setting an Order Price (step 7) results in an open limit order (no trigger reached, no delay) on the exchange. Why may this be?

Discovered my error after some experimentation. I had misunderstood how this works. In a buying scenario the trigger level needs to be above market and the hypothetical limit entry bellow market. I was looking for a 'limit if touched' type order to keep my limit orders inactive until the limit price is closer than the current market.

Thanks for your reply. Through modification to the source study can a LIT order be done in Sierra Chart? I may take up the language. That depends on the task being possible and eduction practical. Above the link describes the LIT order. Basically seeking to keep limit orders on the client side until price is nearly reached. Quoted here is the relevant section of a buying scenario.

XYZ has a market price of $16.45. You decide to buy 100 shares, but you don't want to pay more than $16.35 and you don't want to enter the market until the price drops to $16.40. Create a BUY order, and select LIT in the Type field to specify a limit if touched order. In the Lmt Price field, enter a limit price of $16.35, and in the Trigger Price field, enter the trigger price of $16.40. Transmit the order, which will be held in the system until the trigger price is touched, and will then be submitted as a limit order. It will only execute at $16.35 or better

This is definitely doable through modification of that study.

Please contact the developer Onn about this:

Have them modify the latest source code that we provide with Sierra Chart.
