I saw this post today (9/7/2021) about calling Sierra Chart for help, & searched for & found the question you had in a prior post. I answered there as well. First, I'm pretty sure they're not set up for taking calls. Secondly, it seems you haven't yet seen John's (SC Engineering) reply on your last post seeking help for your question... He answered & said the Study/Price Overlay is what you'll need to do what you're asking. However, I will add, if you're overlaying all 3 studies on top of each other (MACD, Double Exp. MA, & Fib Bands, plus OHLC bars or candles)-- that chart's going to be a hot mess. One tip is (if you're still intent on doing this), to make sure the colors of all the study subgraphs compliment each other so you can differentiate 'what's what'. Another tip: if you're looking for early trading signals off the movement of the 2 minute chart.. it would likely be better, in my opinion, to use the study/price overlays, hide the studies, but reference them in an alert condition/color bar study. If the purpose is just to compare the 2 charts- the simplest thing to do is keep them separate & observe them side by side for awhile, until you can 'read' them & how they tend to move together. Last tip: I understand how waiting for an answer or not receiving one can be frustrating- but it's not in anyone's best interest to take out frustrations on the engineering people. Sometimes the best thing that can happen is to be directed to something like the Study/Price Overlay, then go dig into the manual with all the information on it, read it slowly & carefully, then proceed to play around with it until you figure out how to make it work or get stumped again. Also, always search the forum with keywords for any questions first- odds are high you'll both learn something else in the process, AND find a previous post from the past few years that answers your question. Hope that helps. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-09-08 16:06:45

Out of curiousity, I just created a 5 minute chart in about 3 minutes which accomplishes what I understood you as wanting to do. **It's important to create a new chart first (Step 1 & 3) to do this, especially if your chart already has other kinds of indicators on it as well. Start fresh. Then you'll be able to easily figure out how to do it on an existing chart, amidst other studies that are listed in the settings.** Here's the steps: 1) Create your 2 minute chart. 2) Add your 3 studies (Double Exp. Moving Avg., Fib Bands, MACD Leader). 3) Duplicate this chart. 4) Change it to a 5 minute chart. 5) Add 3 Study/Price Overlay studies. 6) Move them up/down in the settings, put them numerical order (optional) 7) In the first S/P Overlay, select the Double Exp. Avg in the top input "Study To Overlay". 8) Before you close the settings, select "Chart Region 1" for this. 9) Repeat step 7 & 8 for the Fib. Bands in the next S/P Overlay. 10) Repeat step 7 for the MACD Leader in the 3rd S/P Overlay; BUT- change the "Chart Region" to #2. 11) Add region dividing line, or otherwise clean up the chart values, etc. to your liking. Here is an image, using the default settings of these studies: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1631051535548.png Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-09-07 21:55:25

We went back and looked to see if we really had not responded, and your statement is completely untrue. In each and every case we gave the same response - use the Study/Price Overlay study. We then never had any further response from you, which implies that you did not need any further help. I completely understand that you gave that answer, My problem is that I am confused as to how to follow the instructions to accomplish my goal. Can you PLEASE send me step by step instructions on how to formulate my chart so that I have a Movnng average and a Fib band setting for both the 5 and 2 minute time frames in Region one of my destination chart. and a mac D and Mac D leader setting for both the 5 and 2 minute time frames in region 2 of my destination chart. Thank you. |
