I try to install the sierra chart but the downloader do not start. I would like reinstall the software because I had problem with historical data but I use the 2270 version. The new downloader do not start. I find 1 older downloader this run but generate the same issue than before. I use the VULTR VPN server. The problem has only the server ...the private laptop work good.What should I set that it works .

I have the same problem, on VPN the downlaoder does not work, so i downloaded zip, extracted but when I want to run sierra with .exe file, it does not start. What is the problem? How should I run it? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-06-17 13:33:49

What is happening when you try to run Sierra Chart? Is the .exe file in the directory or not there at all?

Typically that means that your Security software is blocking the program. Make sure you enter an exception in your security software for the file SierraChart_64, or if you can make an exception for the entire folder that contains your Sierra Chart software, then that would be even better.

Try right-clicking on the executable and select Run as Administrator and see what happens. There is something blocking the software from running. Our program is specifically setup to not require any outside libraries or files, so it just runs from the single executable that you have.

no, it just does not run. even as admin.. no clue why.. this never happened to me. on my laptop, it works. but everything else is working on the VPS, only siera chart is not Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-06-17 16:12:24

yeah, as it was a completely new VPS I was logged as Administrator (root) and the issue was that Microsoft 2016 server does not let some applications being run as Administrator (it is pretty weird, and I have no clue why). It did not even show any message as it normally should. To fix it, some special security policy needs to be set + som setting in the registers. Another solution is to create another non-root account. But in both cases, there is still a need to somehow disable MS Defender because otherwise this pop up will be showing anytime you try to open Sierra - https://prnt.sc/15qbnsf. It is probably because thee publisher of the software is set as Unknown Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-06-17 19:09:07

We are working on getting our certificate so that those messages will not come up, but it has taken a lot longer than expected. Hopefully in the next few weeks we will finally have it.
