i tried restoring trade activity log from backup and the deleted fills aren't loading.

from your documentation here (https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/TradeActivityLog.php#MissingTradeActivityAndBackupFiles), it says to remove the prefix from the beginning of the backup file.

The example you use is Example: 28.TradeActivityLog.Data.

But when I go to my Sierrachart installation folder, my trade activity backup files are named like this: 2021-03-17 164406.TradeActivityLog_2021-03-15_UTC.136344.data

When I rename this file to TradeActivityLog.data and copy it to the main installation folder, the backup fills still are not loaded.

Also, I noticed in the main SC installation folder, there's both a backup folder and a separate TradeActivityLogs folder. I tried copy pasting the data files from both to the main installation and renaming them "TradeActivityLog.data" but none of these options work. I feel like I've exhausted all options.

Sorry, we made some updates to the files and it looks like we missed updating that part of the documentation.

You need to remove the prefix from each file, but leave the suffix. So you would take the file named "2021-03-17 164406.TradeActivityLog_2021-03-15_UTC.136344.data" and change it to "TradeActivityLog_2021-03-15_UTC.136344.data".

And then the files do need to go into the TradeActivityLogs folder.

So I'm supposed to move the backup file (after removing prefix, leaving suffix) to the TradeActivityLogs folder instead of the main installation folder?

What do I do with the TradeActivityLog.data file in the main installation folder then?

Just ignore the TradeActivityLog.data file in the main folder. That is an old file that we no longer use. We used to store all the Trade Activity in the one file (which is what that file was), but then it was taking too long to parse, so we went to individual files per day, which was about 1.5 years ago. We then put the files into the TradeActivityLogs folder.

Alright thanks, I got it to finally work. One last question though.

So after restoring the backup fills, I had to manually insert an order fill (due to the CQG outage incident yesterday). After manually inserting the order, everything looks correct and it's all good.

But when I press the "Apply" button on the Trade Activity Log window, the manually inserted order fill disappears. How do I prevent this from happening?

There are some situations where I'd need to press the "Apply" button (i.e. reflect newly updated commissions on activity log) so ideally I'd like to not have to manually insert this order fill every time I press "Apply."

This is because you must have not set all of the fields or set them correctly for the order fill.

Also this documentation is out of date and needs to be updated:

We will do that. Really though there is almost never a reason you would need to be restoring any backup files.
