HSBC Holdings plc (UK Bank)

Symbol changed from HBC to HSBC.

Sierra Historical data for has both symbols

2008-05-05 to 2013-11-14 for HBC

2013-11-15 to 2014-02-25 for HSBC

How do I combine the files to see all the data on 1 chart?

Historical Daily chart or Intraday chart are you referring to?

In the case of a Historical Daily chart you can simply do cutting and pasting between the files. You can access the data through Edit >> Edit Data-Historical Chart.

Or you can rename the chart data file from HSB to HSBC. Refer to documentation here:

Intraday chart.

I was a little bit leery about renaming files because I did not know if you had a configuration file somewhere that keeps track of all the files and renaming one of them might cause a problem.

I disconnected from the data feed, renamed the HSBC file to something else to avoid a name conflict, renamed the HBC file to HSBC, reconnected to the data feed and it updated the file, that worked.

Thank you.

No. It is completely safe to do this in Sierra Chart. Sierra Chart is very well engineered and does not have a poor design like this.
