What is causing this price behaviour on the right?
I checked other price chart sources such as tradingview and they don't mirror this price behaviour.

You need to set the Continuous Futures Contract option to None:

You cannot use a far forward non-active contract month, and keep this option enabled.

I see. I do wish to continue to use a continuous contract so should I select the contract that has an expiry in the next month or in the current month?
