SC DTC Delayed Exchange Data | Logon error received from server: Connection limit exceeded. | MaxConnectionsDifferentDevices = 4, NumCurrentConnectionsDifferentDevices = 5 I have one machine with 13 instances of SC running. They are running as completely different instances (in separate folder so to speak, not using the File->New Instance feature) From this message it sounds like I can have at most 4 instances of SC where each one has its own connection. If we need more instances running, those would need to use the File->New Instance so they would share the connection Am I correct in my understanding? |

This should be resolved just by reconnecting all of the instances: File Menu: Procedure to Reconnect to the Data and Trade Servers And then they should all be able to connect. Ok got it, so there is no issue having multiple instances What can cause this to happen? Do I need to do anything to prevent it happening again? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-01-15 13:46:03

One more note on this I changed the deployment to use sub-instances. I have a machine that is running two main instances. One of the main instances currently has 4 subsinstances (2-5) So to summarize: 1. One SC instance running on its own 2. Second SC instance running with 4 subinstances I am still getting an error message "SC Data - All Services | Logon error received from server: Connection limit exceeded. | MaxConnectionsForSameDevice = 1, NumCurrentConnectionsForSameDevice = 2 | 2021-01-21 11:29:04.178" |

The message in post #5, is not in regards to delayed data but real-time data. Connections are limited to 1 for real-time exchange data in the case of the SC Exchange Data Feed.

I noticed that when I start SC "DTC - Sub Instance" set in the Data/Trade Service Settings, SC does not connect automatically to the main instance. Is this expected? For clarity - in this scenario I have manually set a client to "DTC - Sub Instance" (not using the automatic launching of sub-instances). Date Time Of Last Edit: 2021-01-25 05:58:40

Did you enable this option: Data/Trade Service Settings: Connect on Program Startup (Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Common Settings >> Common Settings) Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Yes, I do have that setting enabled. It works ok if I am using a different service (e.g., SC Data All Services) I am on v2215 and it reproduces 100% of the time |

This will be resolved in the next release . We see why it occurs.

I am getting this error for some of the symbols HD Request # 55 | Error downloading historical Intraday data for EEM. Historical data logon error: Data files folder not set for service code: equities.us | Username: 123456 | 2021-01-25 17:31:51.001 What does that mean? Is that something I missed in the configuration? Deployment details Main1 Instance of SC connected to SC Data All Services (I can see EEM fine on this SC instance) Main2 Instance of SC connected to Main1 using "DTC - Sub Instance" Main2 launches several sub-instances of its own (using the "Instances to run on startup" setting) The EEM chart that is having issues is one of these last ones |

This kind of configuration was not contemplated to be supported. We cannot invest further time in this. Do not use sub instances in this way. Main2 launches several sub-instances of its own (using the "Instances to run on startup" setting)
You need to have all of these to connect to the main server instance connected to SC Data - All Services.
