Hi, I have IB data feed.

If I want to screen ALL of Nasdaq, NYSE and Amex ticker symbols intraday for a particular Indicator condition,
how do I bring in all these Ticker symbols into Sierra Charts from IB the easiest, most efficient way?

Using Associated Watch list, I can only type in one ticker at a time OR import them from Excel? I don't have or know where to gets hundreds of tickers into Excel format.

Is there an easier solution then this these days to make a stock screener?

Also, do you actually allow for thousands of tickers to be imported and screened?
Or is there a limit?

I just found this video on youtube 4 years ago, - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ryBGgsI_OU

which basically says, Sierra is very poor for scanning stocks and will take 40 minutes just to check 200 tickers. Is this still true in 2020 or improvements have been made?

Thank you

Pay no attention to information outside of this website. We see no reason why 200 symbols cannot be scanned in a minute or less depending upon the Chart Update Interval and the speed of the system and how much data is loaded in the chart.

First, we do not provide support for Interactive Brokers data and you are going to have all kinds of problems with that. Under no circumstances use that data for the purpose of what you want. It is out of the question.

To perform a scan, refer to:
Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Scanning for Alert Condition Across Multiple Symbols

And you need to use the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed for data:

To add all of the available symbols for an exchange to the symbol list in a chart, refer to:

But Sierra charts only provides 500 tickers at most? While Nasdaq alone has 24 thousand plus tickers? Your answer does not solve the problem for a person who wants to screen hundreds/thousands of tickers quickly for an ideal set up.

500 tickers that I would be paying for in Sierra is just too small of a universe to find an ideal trade set up. I am puzzled why you don't offer a serious Screener option. Charge more but give people a choice.

I should of looked at your screeners before hand, just never assumed this would be a problem, and instead concentrated my last few months on learning everything else needed to set up and run Sierra first.

Really, its like going out on a date with a guy and after a few months, hopping into bed with him and finding out he is really a female below the belt. It truly is disappointing.

I guess I will be going back to Ninja for trading equities, as it looks like I have no choice with Sierra.
If you do decide to make a good screener, please email me, I will go back to Sierra when it happens, I like your software and its a shame to leave after a steep learning curve and time spent on setting it up.

This limitation does not apply because the scanning does not need to involve real-time data. There is no limitation with the amount of historical data requested.

You also would not be scanning 24,000 symbols. It would be considerably less.

We will follow up with a solution later today. We may need to add a new historical data download action to support this which we can do today. We just need to review some things first.

though I have to say I am confused about your statement that "This limitation does not apply because the scanning does not need to involve real-time data"

I want to scan intraday stocks like hourly, for an ideal set up, so how does that no involve intraday real time data?

We have done the necessary updates to support what you require. This is in the latest revision of 2208. Update instructions:
Software Download: Fast Update

You need to update to the latest prerelease.

For now you can do testing with the Sierra Chart Historical Data Service:
Sierra Chart Historical Data Service

This is included and you do not have to pay extra for it.

Here is the documentation to add symbols for an exchange to the Associated Watchlist of a chart:
Changing the Symbol of a Chart: Automatically Inserting Symbols for Exchange or Index

What you will do is use this command to update all the Intraday data files with current data for that list of symbols:
Edit Menu: Edit >> Download Data for Associated Watch List Symbols

It has been updated in the latest release to support Intraday data.

Even in the case of ninja, it is not going to be able to keep thousands of symbols up-to-date with real-time data simultaneously. There would have to be some method to fetch necessary historical data for scanning purposes periodically.

Our data feeds do have the ability to provide real-time data on thousands of symbols concurrently but this is not a feature that we make publicly available. If you do want this, we can look at a pricing option for it. Although we do not think it is necessary.

Also you do not have to pay for 500 real-time symbols if you do not need to look at real-time data for that many symbols at once. If you did want real-time data on more symbols, then we probably can increase this limit without an additional cost in the case of the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed.
