Hello Is it possible to attach a trailing stop to a moving average in Sierra Charts so when the price crosses the moving average the stop would be triggered? Hope this makes sense Thank you Madra |

There is something similar to this. And it is documented here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_AttachedOrders.html#StudyControlledTargetsStops Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Hello I am very excited about this possibility but it seems I have missed some step or inserted a false value as the study was not responding when I tested it on a replay chart Thanks for the timely response: I followed direction for StudyControlledTargetStops 1. Enabled: Yes, Order type: stops, Controlling subgraph: ID5.SG1, Order Adjustment Timing: On Bar close, Adjustment frequency:30, Trailing Offset( in Ticks: 2, ACS Tool# for enable/Disable:1, Position type: All positions 2.Global Settings: ToolBar 1: (Button TMS on tool bar) enabled Not sure about this tick size on Chart settings it is: 0.00500 (Forex Euro.Jpy) in the settings of the study I have entered: 2 Is this correct? 3. Do I Need to enter a a negative value in the study settings for a long position and a positive value for a short position or does the study take care of this? http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1392611079136.png: This is a live chart; the green line is the ID5.SG1 I do appreciate your support thank you, madra |

1. What study is the Controlling Subgraph Reference set to? 2. A trailing offset of 2 ticks does seem kind of close. 3. Only use a positive value for the Trailing Offset. The study will do the necessary calculations. Are you performing a test on a live account or a paper trading account with your trading service? If so, we will test that as well. Hello, 1. Use Ichimoku which has following elements: Chikou Span, Tenkan-Sen, Kijun-Sen(ID5),Senkou Span A, Senkou Span B, Senkou Span A&B IB data feed- trading service 2. Stop to trigger when price crosses Kijun-Sen 3. I have 13 currency charts: all charts are configured the same - using 'save all' and 'analysis' 4. Test: using paper trading 5. it works sometimes: could this be because the price makes a major move and skips over the stop? 6. did not seem to work on 'Replay' Thank you, again Madra |

We have not had time to follow up on this and we cannot get into the specifics of your scenario. We did do some basic testing and see that the study for controlling targets and stops does work with non-simulated trading. There should not be any trouble using the study with Replay, at all. Try using something simple like a moving average to control the target or stop. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users.
