How do I see where I am at with a bar in terms of number of ticks it is at so I can see if it is almost complete?

Use the Countdown Timer and set the Input for Display Remaining Range in Ticks to Yes. Refer to the information here:

What kind of Bar Period Type are you using?

If you are using time-based bars then you do not set the option for Display Remaining Range in Ticks, and you will get the countdown in time.

If you are using Range bars, then you should not have a problem with what we told you previously.

Reversal bars in ticks is the setting.

The Countdown Timer does not work with Reversal bars. There is not a Sierra Chart study that does what you want for Reversal bars.
