Hi!

The message log window is constantly popping up whenever I start SC. I searched through the log but I'm unable to find any errors. How can I determine the reason for message log window popping up?

Is there any string inside the log I should search for?

Thanks

Refer to the following documentation:
Message Log: Messages That Cause the Message Log to Automatically Open

Note the link in that section for how to prevent the Message Log from opening.

The only messages marked with an asterisk (*) I could find are this: "Enabling compression for file..."

Do you know why these are labeled as significant and result in message log window popping up?

Thanks

I don't mean to be annoying, but I will need some additional help.

I know I can disable the message log but that is not what I would like to do and anyway it is not recommended by SC.

After thoroughly searching a couple of recent message logs I couldn't find any errors. But I found a couple of messages marked with an asterisk (*). These messages are apparently the cause for the log opening up according to SC documentation.

The messages say the following: "Enabling compression for file: C:\SierraChart\Data\F.US.USAZ20.scid. This may take a while. ". The same type of messages are logged for some other symbols.

I tried searching for this issue but I couldn't find any helpful information.

What can I do about this?

Thanks again

I've been seeing the same issue. It looks like SC has been failing to enable compression on new .scid files for a little while.

You can work around the message log pop-up by going into the C:\SierraChart\Data folder and manually enabling compression on any .scid files that need it (right-click > Properties > Advanced... > Compress contents to save disk space).

You'll need to do the same for any new symbols you follow later on.

We will make sure that message does not open the Message Log.

That message is not going to show if the folder containing the Intraday data files already has compression enabled.
