I upgrade last week from I think 2138 or so to 2159. I think all the custom studies were working. Today I noticed the following error: "Failed to get the function address for scsf_BacgroundBars in C:\SierraChart\Data\UserContributedStudies.dll. Error: Windows error code 127: The specified procedures could not be found. (ID:7)" I'm not sure which study it pertains. I restarted Sierra with the same message. Should I try to turn it to its previous version to see what study this message points, assuming that I will be able or how can you tell to what study the message directs? |

I reinstalled the previous 2138 version and now the custom study BackgroundBars is fine. I guess the developer didn't update it to the 2051 and later versions?

Background Bars is probably a study we removed because it was not easily updated due to the ACSIL changes. Have a look at using the Study/Price Overlay study: Study/Price Overlay Study In particular look at this Input: Study/Price Overlay Study: Use Multicolumn Rectangle Style for Price Bars Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I wonder if you could update this Background Bars study. I would think if it works in a previous version, it ought to work in the latest version as well as all the other studies? Regarding the Study / Price Overlay, I noticed that it only seems to work in a XAUUSD chart. In a S & P chart I get a row below the chart of green equal parallel candle sticks that look like a green picket fence. After I scroll backward, it changes into a pattern of smaller red /green candle sticks. I also noticed after I apply the study that it begins as XAUUSD 1 min study instead of describing it as the Study/Price Overlay study. Then, when I try to follow the directions as previously provided by merging it in the Chart Region as one chart, the whole chart becomes unreadable. The entire chart is pushed up as a single condensed chart. But, when I go to the provided default XAUUSD chart, it only works there by highlighting and coloring each each individual bar as green or red. But, it doesn't group several candle sticks as one, as shown in the Study / Price Overlay provided web link explanations.

Do you know why the Study / Price Overlay study seems to be mixed up only with XAU USD symbol and it won't work with any other symbol and why it only highlights each bar vs a group, as in the provided diagram?

Make sure you set this input to Yes with the study: Study/Price Overlay Study: Use Multicolumn Rectangle Style for Price Bars Assuming you want that kind of an appearance. With regards to the Study/Price Overlay, all the information on how that study works is in the documentation for it here: Study/Price Overlay Study Be sure to read the documentation to understand the study relative to what you want to do specifically. Then, when I try to follow the directions as previously provided by merging it in the Chart Region as one chart, the whole chart becomes unreadable. The entire chart is pushed up as a single condensed chart.
