Horizontal grid lines disappear as I manually adjust vertical range

This is easiest described by this quick video / gif: https://imgur.com/a/4n8Gpdm You can see as I crunch the chart in (increase the vertical range of prices displayed), at one point the horizontal gridlines drawn drop in number (as though the horizontal gridlines were set to auto).
