WHY IS MY SIERRA CHART CRASHING EVERY SINGLE TIME I PERFORM A BACKTEST. I CANNOT EVEN PERFORM THE FULL BACKTEST BEFORE IT LOCKS UP. TIRED AND FRUSTRATED...

As a rule ... Often ...it is the fault of the excessive user requirements and the number of operations performed in the strategy. I recently solved my customer who compared Trix with twenty Hull MA types. It will never work on Backtest. What studies do you use? Don't write your know-how ... only what kind of studies, what chart and how long you test in days. It will certainly be possible to optimize the strategy. Without this input information, it is difficult to advise you. |

Your first line said it all for me, I got ya. I do need help writing a strategy though. I remember you provided me a script to access the unfinished auction extend lines. I never got that to work unfortunately. I need help in ASCIL, accessing the current market data. I'm trying to determine when the best ask and/or bid has been hit or lifted. In the ACS folder, there is a study named VAPcontainer that looks like it has some good code examples. Are you proficient in ASCIL, could you help me in any way? I have enough programming skills to learn by copying and pasting, but there's no good examples to really learn from...Thanks a million

I created a few simple studies in the past. ;)Write what you need - with details. Everyone can read this thread, everyone can answer. |

I'm afraid to do that. I was hoping to get a one on one training or if someone had a few examples I could follow would be great. I really just need to know how to access the current market depth in a script. I don't want to give away my strategy is the reason.

If you did not understand the examples in the ACS source folder in sirrachart, you will not understand the examples from other people, because the quality will be worse than what you saw there. Sierra has examples very well created. Yes, there is no very detailed documentation - that is understandable. Platforms that have half the capabilities of Sierra have detailed documentation. The manual for the scooter will always be significantly smaller than the manual from the aircraft.Sorry. I can't help you without details. I don't want to give away my strategy is the reason.
You have two options:Contact Sierrachart engineers directly and write private communication with them (documents are marked "private" here on the forum and no one will not see it - only the SC team and you), they offer paid development or contact one of the third-party programmers directly and ask for training and commenting on the source code. Link for that: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/SierraChartStudyAndSystemProgrammers.php Have a nice day and good luck. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2020-06-17 14:53:21

Sierra Chart engineers are not taking anymore requests for programming. And, the 3rd party programmer's list, I contacted them. Most seemed untrustworthy or not that sophisticated in ASCIL programming. It took me over 4 years to become a well versed programmer in mt4 MQL language, and it seems another 4 years will be in line to learn ASCIL. Thanks for trying to help...
