How to create a change bar chart

I wish to create a bar chart where bars open and close every (N) ticks against a visible and variable time axis. In other words, if it takes 4 hours for the first bar to form then 10 mins for the following bar the time axis needs to visually reflect this. Any help would be much appreciated. |
