This is a strange problem I just started seeing today.

I have a Chartbook that uses a QuoteBoard to select different equity instruments with IB as the data feed. SOME (not all) of the equities are not showing up with the following error (this one is for SPY):

Message from IB: API client has been unsubscribed from account data.. IB Error Code: 2100. Request ID: -1. | 2013-12-26 12:00:47
Message from IB: HMDS data farm connection is inactive but should be available upon demand.ilhmds. IB Error Code: 2107. Request ID: -1. | 2013-12-26 12:02:13

I just figured out there is a pattern to the failure in that it is all the "three character" equities that are failing ... i.e. AAPL works, FB works, but BAC fails.

I am thinking this is probably due to something to do with the symbol information but I'm not sure what went wrong..... I cleared the quote board and started adding new symbols but this problem persists.

What other information can I send to help figure this out ?

BTW: I hope you all are having a good holiday season and there is NO RUSH in getting to this request as I am taking some time off myself.

Thanks!!

I figured out what is causing this failure !!! And I have a workaround but I don't think this is the "fix."

I found a "new" entry in the Edit->Symbol Settings for "??*" for Continuous Futures Contracts .... That appears to be hitting before the "???" for general stocks and breaking my quote board. I deleted the "??*" and things are working now.........
