Hi,

When I was on the trial version, I was able to locate a single stock by searching. However, after starting my standard service, it seems that I could not find any stocks. What I did is: File > find symbol, then in "search" I tried Google and Microsoft. However I failed to find anything on both.

Do I need advanced service to find and open charts on stocks?

Please let me know. Thanks

Refer to the following documentation for how to search for stock symbols:
File Menu: Searching for Stock Symbols
For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service:

Thank you. I have just tried as the document indicated, but still failed in finding anything.

I selected "Enter Search Text - NYSE/AMEX/NASDAQ" under "Stocks". Then I typed "google" in to the "Enter search text below" box. Still failed to find anything after hitting "search by symbol" and "search by description".

Please let me know.

The problem is that Google does not have that actual word in the description for the company, now that the parent company is Alphabet. Therefore, there was no data to return for that specific search. If you search for goog or googl and do Search by Symbol, you will get a result.

This is weird. I have tried what you just mentioned - tried goog and googl and searched by symbol. I have tried MSFT as well, it is for Microsoft by the way, nothing came up.

What I find weird is, after hitting "search by symbol" and "search by description", nothing came up. It does not tell you whether anything is found or not and it seems like you did not press any button (nothing happens).

We apologize for the misleading information. This feature only works when using the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed (which you are not):
File Menu: Searching for Stock Symbols

The documentation does say this. You just need to manually type the symbol instead:
File Menu: Find Symbol (File)

Hi, I tried typing in the symbol manually, still could not find anything.

Do I need to subscribe Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed to get bar charts on stocks?

Thanks.

Hi,is there anyone able to help with this simple function? I am just trying to open charts on US stocks and from my understanding this is within the standard package I am subscribed to.

By the way, after hitting "Search by Symbol" or "Search by Description", nothing happens but the message log says SC Exchange Data Feed not Enabled. Please refer to the uploaded ppt for detailed illustration.

Open a chart as explained here:
Getting Started, Opening Charts and Basic Trading: Open A Chart

You cannot search. But you do not need it because you just manually type a symbol.
