NEW USER, Is there a more efficient way to trade synthetic spreads using SC much like the auto spreader found on TTpro or CQG IC? I day trade synthetic spreads such as the WTI crack spread and other oil-related synthetics across multiple exchanges. I am in love with SC but this functionality is missing. Are there any 3rd party add ons? There is the talk of improved functionality on a few of the historical posts is this forthcoming? I have created a high accuracy synthetic chart for the Brent WTI spread for example, but I would like to enter and manage orders in the DOM. Ideally, it would be nice to access/call the synthetic and manage through the DTS bridge into python or C#. Many thanks |

Thank you for the tip, I have had a look at this feature and whilst the documentation is excellent I am unsure of the expected output. It would be great if there were visual examples to corroborate the written documentation in such circumstances. For example, I have tried to create a spread to trade the Brent WTI spread and although the study chart prices are correct. once I set the study as the main chart display the scaling on the DOM for the newly created spread is very big and I am unable to see more than a few prices. I am also unable to see the current traded price. It would be great to also view daily price metrics such as estimated daily high/ low. I have tried creating a few spreads all with the same issue using both the SC data feeds and IB.Issue being the DOM scaling is too large, no idea what prices are trading, as DOM does not seem to update and can't see the last traded price. Once the spread is created is it possible to name it and all it directly into a chart without creating a separate custom symbol? Also, I am unsure how are the spread price is implemented, are orders working at exchange or is it a simple hit/lift mechanism. the reason I am asking is the exchanged messaging limitations/fines. |

http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1569406079211.png http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1569406967554.png Would it be possible to get some paid support, I have been struggling for 3 days with the spreader study. I believe I am following the instructions fully. Firstly, ys I can creat the spread using either a high accuracy chart setup with multiple charts or using a DOM spread study. The Calculated prices are correct I believe but I am having issues with the scaling ( yes I have reset scales and played with those settings also). When entering an order in using both methods (High Accuracy or DOM spread) orders are filled instantly either the bid or offer as the order is entered as a single order (without hedge) on the primary symbol the spread price. If the spread price is above or below the underlying symbol price it is filled immediatly whereas opposing buys and sells are entered as limits 00's of ticks away. You can see in the GBX ZN image above there are multiple buy limit orders way above the current traded price. The scales of the spread are also not correct, I have had full-page DOMS with only 5 prices displayed that are not near the market. I really have tried everything and waiting for support, can I pay for assistance, please. |

We have not had time to get back to this. But the first thing we would say is that study is definitely not designed to be used on a Trading DOM. It needs to be used on a standard chart. This is the first thing. And it also was never designed to work as the main price graph. Use it only on a standard chart. And do not enable the option to Display as Main Price Graph.

Apologies for chasing, thanks for the prompt reply. I see, so there is no way to actively trade the synthetic spread. Spread creation is only for display purposes ONLY. I am looking at the custom symbols also , there are quite a few standard spreads up there already ie NOB. I am assuming these are also NOT Tradable. SO to sum up there is no way to execute synthetic spreads using SC. I was looking for a new system and absolutely love SC but I trade a lot of synthetic spreads. Is there a 3rd party add on or anything else I can use. Many many thanks |

I have manged to create a DOM using the custom symbol. The correct price and scales are applied although I know that this is not meant for historical charting and one should use the Difference bar study. It would seem that orders are correctly handled although I have no real idea as I am using the IB live feed for testing in the sim environment. Is this a good solution ? Can I trade off these DOMs created from a custom symbol? -------------------------------------------------------------------- TIP for others!! Make sure you use the complete symbol notation including contract month and issue for futures otherwise custom symbols will not work. For example Bobl is; GBM-201912-DTB and Gold would be GC-201912-GLOBEX. SO a something like this will work 3*{GBM-201912-DTB}-2*{GC-201912-GLOBEX} for a futures spread between Bobl and Gold |

I see, so there is no way to actively trade the synthetic spread. Spread creation is only for display purposes ONLY. No this is definitely not true. The Trading: Spread Order Entry study does enter orders for custom spreads. We have updated the documentation to make that clear:Spread Order Entry Study But it may not work in the way that you are looking for. You cannot trade them like a single symbol. there are quite a few standard spreads up there already ie NOB. I am assuming these are also NOT Tradable. These are tradable but not through Interactive Brokers. You need to use this service:Sierra Chart / Trading Technologies Futures Order Routing Service You cannot trade a custom symbol like this live: 3*{GBM-201912-DTB}-2*{GC-201912-GLOBEX}

Thank you for the reply guys much appreciate the clarity. I am new here but just want to say I really appreciate the product, it is superior in every way to every other product out there with the following exceptions. 1) Auto spreader, it's just so close to being a final product but not quite there, maybe one day:) 2) Backtesting and optimization ( I will probably continue to use my own custom build or try Zoro project) Perhaps SC is intended for another audience but it's just so good I just don't understand why not put the finishing touches to make it No1. I will set up my brokerage next week through GHF and give it a run through your order-routing service. If there is a chance the spreader may be developed further I would be very happy indeed. Keep up the good work:) |

Maybe we could support standard trading through a Trading DOM or chart with custom calculated symbols. Right now that capability does not exist. Yes this behavior does make sense. You cannot use the Spread Order Entry study as the main price graph and trade that using standard trading functions. We have updated the documentation here to make it clear how that study works:Spread Order Entry Study We will add a screenshot. I know you guys are busy but I would question why you don't just make it easy for users to chat and trade a synthetic spread. Just give us simple functionality like CTS to start with and build from there. Why allow us to create a chart of a relationship but not allow us to trade it easily. If you could allow for even the simplest limit market spread trading it would make my life and others a lot easier. Plus spread equal more volume for your business. If you have a basic spreader would be happy to test it for you. May I also recommend a routing fee cap for high users>5000L Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2019-09-27 07:37:07

What will it take for you to create a proper functioning Autospreader I see the term littered across your support forum for many years. At the very least allow me to call the synthetic spread called à combo in Interactive Brokers so I can view and trade it on a DOM. Why do I have be back and forth in TWS? There has to be a better way.

I see the term littered across your support forum for many years. This is not true. This is seldom asked for.And Sierra Chart does have a Spread Order Entry study and it does work as documented: Spread Order Entry Study You have been you have been wanting it to work different than documented and doing things that was not capable of like trying to make it the main price graph, which we have now prevented in later versions, and trying to trade all of the legs on the Trading DOM as if it were a single symbol. Doing this with it, is a concept completely made up by you, and inconsistent with the documentation. The other thing, within the next 60 days, we will be supporting the ability to directly trade spreads that are defined using the custom symbol format documented here: Custom Calculated Symbols And additionally, when using services like CTS or the Sierra Chart TT based order routing you can directly trade exchange traded spreads without any problem and in the way that you want. Overall this has been supported for 10 years now. Is it safe to assume this will not be offered by Sierra Chart in the near future? I have looked into and tested the Spread Order Entry Study, as well as Spreadsheet System for Trading, to no avail. Is there any other method to trade custom spreads I can attempt besides writing something using Sierra's ACSIL language. I'm not against using ACSIL, it will just take time to learn, test, and implement something using it. Thanks. |

Definitely not in the near future. The Spread Order Entry is the best option. Otherwise you would need to put in the orders by creating a custom study using ACSIL. For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |
