Adding a Volume By Price Study direct from the Studies Available list

If I try and add a 'Volume By Price' Study direct from the Studies Available list, as opposed to the 'Draw Volume Profile' Tool, then the resulting Volume Profile Drawing cannot be selected by the User. I assume this is by design, as in Global Settings >> Tool Settings it does say 'Enable Drawn Volume Profile Selection' Ultimately, if possible, I'd like to be able to add a Volume Profile through a Study Collection via the sc.ApplyStudyCollection() function.
