Hi
W/r to this comment in the SC site:" A Simple Alert Condition Formula can be specified on a chart study or the main chart graph that will be continuously monitored"
can you please clarify?
does this mean that the chart to be active on display for the alert to work?
Lat's say if I say a simple alert on a chart, would it work and send me the alert sound if:
- I switch to another symbol on the same chart via the quoteboard?
- I leave that chart on that chartbook but move myself to a different chartbook?
If the answer is no for the above, would it work via the spreadsheet system?
Id there any way set submit alerts to sit on the server side, so I get notified even if sierra chart is closed

thanks
a

Refer to:
Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Monitoring of Alert Formulas

There is no support for having alerts stored outside of the program to be able to alert you when Sierra Chart is not running.

Your response points to a section that refers to simple alerts, but my questions remain unanswered:
- If I got a chart with a simple alert but am working on a different chartbook, would that make the initial chart to be active in the background, and so the alert would work as indicated by the help section you pointed me to?
- If I got a chart with a SYMBOL alert;
  - If I am working on a different chartbook, would the alert on th efirst chart/symbol trigger?
  - If I switched in that chart to a different symbol via the quoteboard, would the alert on the first symbol trigger?
- If I have chart with a symbol and an alert on a drawing:
  - If I am working on a different chartbook, would the alert on the first chart/symbol/drawing trigger?
  - If I switched in that chart to a different symbol via the quoteboard, would the alert on the first symbol/drawing trigger?

Use common sense and do testing. We cannot take the time answering these questions. We have to start charging for this support.

We did update the documentation a little more. But to answer the question, whenever the symbol of a chart changes the alert formulas or any alerts on Chart Drawings only apply to the current symbol of the chart.
