Hi, I am a new Sierra user and am trying to bring my Sierra charts into alignment with my prior platform's charts. I use Weekly pivot points and noticed that when following Sierra's documented guidance to do that in Sierra, my values to not match my prior chart platform's values. I do believe that my prior platform's indicator leverages Daily bars to drive the weekly pivot calculations, and I do believe that Sierra's PivotPoint-Variable Period does not, so that may be the cause of the discrepancy. I came across this: Pivot Points are not Accurate or are Different ...but this seems to focus only on resolving discrepancies for Daily pivots. Is there a way to leverage daily bars to drive the weekly pivot calculations? Thank you in advance. |

What study are you using? Pivot Points-Variable Period? That study cannot reference an historical daily chart. But you can put it on an historical daily chart. This would be the best thing to do. At last, i'm able to have weekly and monthly pivots perfectly calculated. I was thinking it was not possible with Sierra Chart. For anyone wanting to display Weekly and monthly pivots, here is how to proceed: - On a real historical daily chart - Add Pivot Points variable period study - Set time period to Weekly or Monthly - Set time period length to 1 - Set enough day to calculate, more than the desired period > 5 for weekly, > 30 for monthly You can hide this study on the weekly/monthly charts and then import it on your intraday chard with study overlay. Done: Now you have correct pivot points using all the proper data in particular settlement prices from real daily data. Date Time Of Last Edit: 2023-10-28 10:03:54
