SC started having trouble connecting to sim.gainfutures.com (Port: 9300) a couple of days ago. It hasn't been able to connect since. It just keeps trying and failing. I sent recent logs to support. I have another software package that is still able to connect to Gain's sim server, which leads me to believe that the issue isn't with Gain.

Either this is caused by a firewall on your system or there is a problem with the simulation FIX server. We will ask Gain Capital about this.

We have not yet contacted Gain Capital but when we went to test the connection to their simulation FIX server there is no problem connecting. So if you are still having a problem most likely it will be caused by a firewall on your side: Data/Trading Service Connection and Symbol Issues: 1.2. You're right, it was a firewall issue. I created a new rule and it's working now. It looks like my firewall auto-updated recently without me knowing it, which caused it to start blocking SC. I've turned off auto-update so that it doesn't surprise me by breaking again. Thank you for helping troubleshoot. How did you test the connection to Gain's sim FIX server? I'd like to be able to do this myself in the future so that I can troubleshoot my own issues better. |

We just simply set Sierra Chart to use Gain Capital and tried connecting. This is all. The Message Log then provides complete details about the connection. Nothing hidden from the user. You can see exactly what is happening.
