Is there a way to get older historical data into SC for longer term analysis, going back many decades ie 70s, 80s, 90s, for commodities, indices, bonds, etc?

Yes use the Continuous Futures Contract feature:

You just have to see how far back in time it is possible to get data for a particular futures market.

Could you please help with an example, of how far back data long term data is available on some commodities, and how one might be able to get data going further back, ie long term charts of 50+ years?
