Hello, I have two separate Sierra Chart installations, each with their own Data folder and all that (I followed the instructions to install them separately) and use them to run two simultaneous backtests so that it uses two different cores on my processor to speed things up (following the multiple instance advice to distribute workload). I was running a backtest today with Sierra Chart v1865 and when I returned to the computer one of the Sierra Chart screens was completely black. I could right click and bring up the contextual menu, so I selected Chart Settings to see if I had made a symbol error, but the Chart Settings window opened completely black as well, and much too wide for the screen (normally I can see the edges, but this one kept going off the right side of the screen). I was not able to see anything in the Message Log either (all black also). The interface of the other installation was very slow even though the backtest was finished (and Task Manager showed 0-1% CPU usage) and there were repeated entries in the Message Log that simply said "Error creating thread. | 2019-01-27 16:36:24 *". The times were different for each message, of course, but there was no other information (such as a study name or even a chart name which I normally use to point me in the right direction). Each backtest was of a significant duration (multiple hours), but I have done this dozens of time in the past without trouble. Are you able to provide more information regarding this error, please? Thank you for your help. |

Clearly there is a problem and when it got to a point like that the whole process is unstable and you have to exit from Sierra Chart. The operating system did not give Sierra Chart what it required in regards to thread creation and possibly also memory allocation. Our only advice is to run the 64-bit version of Sierra Chart and make sure your hardware is sufficient for what you are doing and close on any unnecessary programs. For the record we do not think anyone has ever encountered a thread error before. It is very unusual. Exceptionally unusual. You might want to restart your computer as well.
