which study do I use that counts the total number of ticks in a candle (adds all the up ticks + add all the downticks (as if they were upticks) to get to the number of total ticks. ie., 10 upticks and 10 downticks will equal 20 ticks total another way to state is: 10 up trades and 10 down trades still equal 20 trades total in both cases the candle would be a small line |

if there are 1398 trades than on all platforms it should create 6 candles; so, why on one platform it creates 6 candles and on sierra it creates 4 candles - both platforms use number of trades for counting. Thank in advance for explaining. |

Sierra Chart plots trades candles based on the data feed and/or the Intraday Data Storage Time Unit setting. If the feed is tick by tick, and the above setting is 1 Tick, there should be insignificant differences in trades candles between platforms. Go to Global Settings >> Data/Trade Service Settings >> Intraday Data Storage Time Unit. Sierra supports some feeds that may not offer tick by tick data. |

Use the Number of Trades study. This is because of differences in the data feed. Sierra Chart works with numerous external data services many of which we do not provide ourselves and have no control over. We explain this in detail in help topic 43 here: Http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/helpdetails43.html If you are trading futures, we suggest you have a look at our own data feed: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/SierraChartRealTimeFuturesStockDataFeed.php Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
