Appreciate your help with the following. 1) Is is possible to add an alerts feature to the price retracement tool that is similar to the one available for a horizontal line? I think it would be an easy value add from a programming perspective. I would suggest adding a column of "Alert" check boxes next to the column of "Show" boxes on the Levels tab. In this way one could have an alert on levels that weren't necessarily drawn on the chart. The logic behind this construction would be to have alerts on minor retracement levels without cluttering the chart with too many lines. 2) When using the price retracement tool on a chart with TPO and VbP, the Snap to High/Low and Snap Side to High/Low doesn't seem to work. Can you please advise if this is a bug or is there a specific way to use this feature on these specialized charts? 3) Once Snap to High/Low is drawn on a chart, will it update in real time if the market moves to a new high / low? If not I would suggest this as an enhancement because doesn't seem too complicated and saves users much time in terms of not having to manually adjust the drawing on multiple charts on busy trending days. I look forward to your advice and thoughts on this subject. Many thanks in advance. |

1, 3. These are not supported or planned and we do not intend to add them to the to do list unless a customer is willing to pay for them. We get lots of feature requests, and certain categories of requests are no longer practical for us to be taking. We are already overwhelmed to the limit right now. We recommend looking at the new Symbol Alerts feature found in Window >> Show/Hide Alert Manager. It is not yet documented, but should be self-explanatory. 2. This does make sense and it is not going to work properly on that type of chart. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. 2. One thing we will do, is when a TPO Profile Chart study is on the chart, we will disable automatic snapping.

Thanks for the quick response. 1 & 3. I can appreciate that the team is very busy, and it shows in terms of the finished product that is delivered. I am interested to learn more regarding payment for specific enhancements so please contact me privately for that discussion. 2. I don't know how the "Snap to" code works but a standard TPO / Volume chart does have a well defined high & low so not sure why it wouldn't work with a little modification. It's a shame to disable such a useful feature - even if it doesn't dynamically update with new highs & lows. Thanks for drawing my attention to the Symbol Alerts feature. I tried it out and was wondering if the details of the alert are supposed to appear next to the symbol because the area to the right remains blank. |

We are getting back to this now. 1. We will follow up by email about this. 2. The problem is that while you do not see chart bars in a TPO Profile Chart, they exist but they are hidden and chart drawings link to those. Each bar has a range equivalent to the range of the entire profile. 3. Are you referring to the Symbol Alerts tab of the Window >> Alert Manager window? Hello Drywater0, if you are still here, did you find a solution to .... "1) Is is possible to add an alerts feature to the price retracement tool that is similar to the one available for a horizontal line? " rather than having to type in the values for the lines into the Alert Manager? |

Hi MotoMoto, Unfortunately a native alerts feature is NOT built into the Price Retracement tool. I enquired how much it would cost to have specific features added, but I don't believe anyone from the SC support team responded. If you agree that it would be a useful feature, I would encourage you to write to SC support as well. The more users that ask for a feature increases the odds they will include it in a future update. Many thanks in advance. |

Hi Drywater0, yes it would be a great addition. At present I am resorting to typing the values for a 50% retracement into a spreadsheet for trading, then using that for my alerts. It would then just be a time saver, and one less hassle when looking at many multiple instruments which is my ultimate goal. While I know SC are fantastic at updates and are busy with new data implementation (which is probably more important than this) I would be interested in seeing what it would cost to implement it if I had to contribute some extra $ myself. If SC are too busy I completely understand that too. |
