One particular study does not activate on the chart. However if I go to the studies panel, highlight this study, an click “apply” once more, the study activates(arrow up or down) on the chart. Any idea why this happens on this particular study only? This study is “color bar based on alert condition” Thank you Ps: I moved this study across both ends of the studies panel to no avail...( thinking maybe the calculation order had anything to do in the matter) Paul Chebi |

Based on what you are describing this is going to be a calculation order issue. Refer to: Chart Studies: Study Calculation Precedence And Related Issues A simple test would be to just simply change the formula to 1 to color all bars. Thanks for fast response. As mentioned in my original post I did scroll the formula to both ends of the studies panel, suspecting a Calc Order, to no effect. One fact I omitted in my post is that the study on which this alert was made, was an overlay of a 5 minute study into the the 1 minute panel on which the alert was placed. This same alert condition worked fine in the 5 minute panel. Could that be the problem? |

Is the calculation order of the study correct? You can see that value in the Studies to Graph list in the Chart Studies Window. Regarding the Color Bar Based On Alert Condition study, is the data that it is ultimately referencing in the source chart, present and as you expect? Yes the calculation order is correct. As to whether the data being calculated is present I assume it is by virtue of the fact it is contained in the study tha was overlaid from the 5 minute panel into the 1 minute panel. In summary I had the study with alert working in the 5 minute chart panel. ( blue line of stochastic crossing the high and/or level giving an arrow down or up alert) I wanted to transpose this alert in the 1minute panel. So I overlaid the 5 minute sto into the 1 minute panel and used the overlaid parameters in my alert formula. As previously mentioned, the alert signals in the 1 minute chart would not activate under live conditions, tho by recalling the study in the studies panel and clicking the“apply” button, the alarm signal(arrow up/down) would appear in the 1 minute panel. I tried this action with my study at both extremities of the studies panel to exclude calc order, but to no avail. Hope this helps in evaluating the situation Thank you |

At this point would be best that you just attach the charts you are having an issue with and we will have a quick look. Here are instructions to attach the Chartbook: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=PostingInformation.php#AttachFile Tell us the number of the chart that has the study you are asking about. If you can make a new Chartbook with just two charts and the minimum amount of studies that would be best. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. I circumvented the problem by avoiding overlaying the 5m Sto 10,3,3 into the 1m chart and using a 50,10,10 sto in the 1m chartbook. I seem to be getting my alerts this way in the 1m chartbook quite consistently with the 5m chart alarm. I attribute my problem to the overlay procedure and overloading of my chartbook with alarms. If the problem reoccurs I would consider a remote assistance procedure Thanks a lot for your help in the matter |
