I had an idea that I believe has merit... I like the idea of range bars but I think their effectiveness is limited because a fixed, x number of points range means something entirely different on a low volatility day than it would on a high volatility day. So it seems perfectly logical to have an option to make the bar's range dependent on the average true range. In this way, if a new bar is generated it really could signal that something significant has happened, and it would adjust to the current market conditions.
