HI Is there a study where I can specify a time period and it will give me the number of bars that have formed for that period. Or alternatively I can click on a bar on my chart and specify a number of bars (either forward or back) and it will take me to that point or highlight it. thanking you. If not clear I will try to clarify |

You can use the Chart Calculator tool for this: Chart Drawing Tools: Chart Calculator Another thing you can do is to use the Bar Numbering study and subtract the numbers to get the number of bars between two points in time. You can find the documentation for the Bar Numbering study here: Bar Numbering Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. If this isn't something you need done automatically all the time, I use the Chart Calculator Tool and turn on the Number of Bars checkbox. I use this tool all the time to calculate profit, Ticks and Number of Bars. It will also leave the information on your chart if you wish after you've drawn point to point. See my attached image if interested. Edit: I see SC Engineering added the same suggestion while I was formulating this reply ;^) -- Scott Date Time Of Last Edit: 2018-06-08 19:45:49

Is there a way to know how many bars are currently displayed on a given chart? For some charts I want to see only 200 bars and for some 300 bars. |

Regarding Post #4: The only way to do this using the given Sierra Chart tools is to use the Bar Numbering study. This will show you the total number of bars at the last bar. Refer to the following: Bar Numbering If you want to program something that will give you the information (which can be done), then refer to our ACSIL interface language starting here: Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL): Introduction For the most reliable, advanced, and zero cost futures order routing, use the Teton service: Sierra Chart Teton Futures Order Routing |

I had already tried the bar numbering study but it either: 1. starts calculation at beginning of each day/trading session 2. continuous calculation Guess only way is to program something that will show how many bars are being displayed based on scaling |
