Prevent TICK SIZE from updating on charts linked on 'SYMBOL' only

Hi there,

FEEDBACK ABOUT THE PLATFORM
------------------------------
This week is my first week using Sierra charts. The charting platform is very powerful & awesome no doubt but it's very complex. The UX is not great at all due to the non-layman-friendly nomenclature to purpose mapping of the UI options. It takes a huge amount of time like a university course to get one's head around this.

PROBLEM -
---------
I've got a chart workbook "A" with some charts & linked them on the chart symbol. I've been able to follow your documentation with great pain and work out how to duplicate all charts in any given workbook to another workbook say cart workbook 'B'. The problem I have is that when I change the chart symbol to a different symbol, all the linked charts get updated. HOWEVER, the TICK SIZE also gets reset on all the charts. COuld you please tell me how can I change just the chart symbol & leave the different tick sizes of the different charts unchanged?

I have about 10 chart workbooks with 6 charts in each. So, if I were to manually update all the workbooks to different symbols each, we are talking of me manually updating 5*9 = 45 charts ( The first chartbook would be manually updated anyway which reduces 6 charts for subsequent updating & the first chart on every workbook will have the correct tick size which leave with 5 charts each to update on the remaining 9 workbooks). This would take hours of work.

I'd really appreciate any solution/workaround please.

Would be best to follow through the Getting Started instructions and you will see that using the basic functionality is easy:

I've been able to follow your documentation with great pain and work out how to duplicate all charts in any given workbook to another workbook say cart workbook 'B'.
This is easy to do. Refer to:
Chartbooks (Workspaces): Making a Copy of a Chartbook

Chartbooks (Workspaces): Duplicating Multiple Charts to a Chartbook

HOWEVER, the TICK SIZE also gets reset on all the charts. COuld you please tell me how can I change just the chart symbol & leave the different tick sizes of the different charts unchanged?
For us to give the right answer did you want to use a different tick size for the same symbol in different charts?

Answer - That's absolutely right. An example is having 5 EURUSD charts within a workbook with varying tic sizes and when I copy across all the charts of the workbook over to another workbook & change the symbol to GBPUSD, I'd wanna see just the symbol change across all the charts but not the tick size

When the symbol of the chart is changed, the Tick Size is changed to match and that cannot be prevented. It would cause all kinds of problems if the Tick Size did not get updated.

You can change the default Tick Size for the symbol through the Global Symbol Settings. Refer to:
http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/GlobalSymbolSettings.php

So the solution is to set the default Tick Size as you require and do not change the symbol of the chart.

Thank you. This is exactly the opposite of what I'm after & so doesn't help :-) Thanks again

We will see if we can add an option to override this.

We will have an option out next week to prevent the Symbol Settings from being changed on a Symbol change. This will be in Chart >> Chart Settings.

This is now done in the current version and is in Chart >> Chart Settings >> Advanced Settings 3.
