sorry again a question ... I promise this will stop after a wile. I like extending the POC and value area. but once the VA is invalidated (what ever that means for me) I would like to stop those lines, otherwise I get too many on the Y scale. end of period is too short. end of window too obviously too long. further intersection - hm? I am not sure what it is. what I would like to have is: until date&time. possible? Rgrds |

No, this is not possible. The current options are documented thoroughly here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?l=doc/doc_VolumeByPrice.html#Settings Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. ***** When setting the Value Area lines to extend Until Future Intersection , this means each Value Area line is individually extended until it encounters price bars which intersect with the particular Value Area line being extended. ***** I have set to "until future intersection". there are future bars that cross the lines. still they are drawn until end of chart. but anyway this option would not help either because I do not want the lines to stop because of bars crossing, as long the VA is still valid. It would really be great to get an option to individually stop the lines, otherwise when having 4-5 VPs the scale gets unclear. anyway. thanks. |

The description was not technically accurate. It has been corrected: When setting the Value Area lines to extend Until Future Intersection, this means each Value Area line is individually extended until it encounters future Volume Profiles which cover a price range which intersect with the particular Value Area line being extended.

You got three different Volume By Price studies on the chart. The extend Until Future Intersection option does not work among separate instances of the study.

ah ok. But dont you think this functionality is something also other users might find useful? I want to make individual value areas and only extend the lines as far they are support/resistance in my opinion. afterwards they bother me. |

The latest release of Sierra Chart, 1031, now supports automatic ending of the value area and point of control lines for Volume and TPO profiles when they intersect future prices and there are no profiles displayed after them which are part of the same study instance.

thanks again! this helps a lot, though I am not 100% sure how it works. looking at the chart now: http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?l=1381086540961.png "when they intersect future prices" - well they stop after a couple of intersections with future prices. what eg is reason for stop of lines for the lowest profile? The thing is that intersection is not intersection. when prices only hit slightly the area it is still valid. once traded to other side for eg 20 USD (in case of gold) - that would invalidate. but anyway, pls dont think I am ungrateful, I very much appreciate you did change that. but in case you once find the time (whenever) it would be great to have an "until date/time" option. :-). I can also work around, no problem. when the VA is invalid I just change settings to "not extend lines" for those studies. |

We do see a problem with the functioning of this and it will be corrected: Automatic ending of the value area and point of control lines for Volume and TPO profiles when they intersect future prices and there are no profiles displayed after them which are part of the same study instance.
