Keep Selection Area Around Drawing Tool?

Hello, I was wondering if it is possible to keep the selection area around a drawing tool after having placed it? EG. See the attached 2 images. When I draw volume profile, there is a white selector rectangle. But when I deselect the tool, it disappears. Is there anyway to keep the outer white selector box permanent?
