Good morning,

I'm using "Color Bar Based on Alert Condition". Which is great by the way! I found something close to what I want, but not exactly what I need.

First here's what I would like to do:
I am using Range-Bar Chart and basically I would like to compare the "ask volume" at the top 1/3 of the actual bar to the top 1/3 of the previous 10 bars.

There is something very close to it in "Special Functions" with BVAP(Price,Offset). Unfortunately, it is the volume for an exact price and not a range of price for the candle.

I've also thought about using a study/overlay from a chart Bar-Chart with a range of 1/3 of what I am actually using, but it doesn't correspond exactly, so it doesn't work.

If you have any suggestion, please let me know, but if putting a price range in BVAP/AVAP is possible, that would be perfect.

Thank you for your time!

For something more advanced like this you really need to use ACSIL instead:
Advanced Custom Study Interface and Language (ACSIL)

Good afternoon,
I'm far from being an expert with ACSIL but is there something similar to "BVAP"/"AVAP"
Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning

For my study, I would need to know the ask volume at a certain price and the bid price at a certain price also, for each bar. I wasn't able to find a way to get that.

Once I know, I'm pretty sure I can work something out to get the study that I need.

Thank you!

Those functions do exist and are documented here and do what you require:
Study/Chart Alerts And Scanning: Special Functions

We cannot do anything additional in regards to them.

I do understand.

Maybe my question wasn't clear.

Here's what I would like to do:
I use range-bar charts and would like to compare the total ask-volume of the top 1/3 (not the full candle) of my bar and compare it to the average top third of the 10 previous bar.

Since I only want to compare the top thirds and not the full candle, you suggested to use the ACSIL for this type of study since there was no "price range" for "Special Funtion - AVAP".

This is why I was wondering if there was some array/function (not familiar with the terminology, sorry) that can give me the ask volume at a certain price. After that, I can play with "Loops" to get the full ask volume only for the top third of the candle, and then compare it to the previous bars.

Thank you for your time,

Spreadsheets and Simple Alert formulas do not support loops though.

But here is an example to access the Ask Volume for the second price level from the top:
AVAP(H - (TICKSIZE * 1), 0)
