Is there an alternative to Chart Settings / Advanced Settings / Dates to Exclude?

It appears to work well for a small set of comma delineated dates, but the interface does not operate well with a large list of 1000 or more dates. After pasting a large number of dates, the entry box appears empty.

I am looking to exclude a list of dates obtained from my database that meet certain conditions so that I may compare them visually.

Is there an alternative for this?

thank you,

No. That particular field was only intended for a smaller set of dates. But we will see if we can easily increase its capacity.

From the Sierra Chart side, there is no capacity limitation. The problem you are running into most likely is happening at the Windows operating system level.

Is there a work around for this? Or the ability to use a .csv to filter the dates?

I can't even remove a long list of dates once they have been pasted into the interface.

To illustrate this, try and paste the text from the attached file into the 'Dates To Exclude' text box.

thank you kindly,

Yes we can see how a list that long is a problem. We really have to develop a completely separate interface to be able to support a long list of dates like that.

roger that - from my perspective, supporting a csv file just to filter out the dates that the user wanted to include or exclude would be the most helpful solution.

I use this to take a look at dates from a database that meet specific criteria. I can just export minute data from the DB, but then I can't use the charts (Renko) that I normally trade from to view the result.

thank you for considering this

The new interface will be able to import the lines of data, in this case dates, from a CSV file. We have added this as a task.

This would be fantastic!

While you were taking a look at that, I don't know how difficult it would be, but if there was an checkbox or option to inverse the effect of the date filtering, that would be very useful for some users as well.

For instance, if a user wanted to examine the price action only on certain news days (like FOMC), they could just input the dates and see only those days. That would be simpler than only filtering out the days that you don't want to see (which turns out to be a pretty big list just to view the FOMC days).

thank you for your consideration,

Hello Support, Is excluding a large number of dates still a planned feature?
As a SC user of intraday charts of continuous futures data, I want to chart any previous date for which i have data, next to the current date.

For example, the Russell 2000 last traded these current prices ~370 days ago (Jan 2021).
My experience on v2339 is like you mentioned in post #5, adding a long list of dates to exclude, wont work.

*** Big thanks for already having a platform and data feed capable of supporting this type of discussion. I'm still able to download and chart futures tick data from more than a year ago.
Amazing stuff.

This is supported through the Global Symbol Settings:
Global Symbol Settings

Try again and see what the limit is for the Dates to Exclude From Chart setting. We have not checked but maybe it is increased, now that Sierra Chart supports Unicode.
