Hi there, I am loading an hourly chart for a stock which starts trading at 9:30 AM but I would need each bar to start on the hour like 11:00 AM and etc. except the first bar which I would need it to start at 9:30 AM. Right now, the hourly chart starts each bar on the half an hour. How do I set the hourly chart to start at 9:30 AM for the first bar of the day and then on the hour for the rest of the bars during the same day? Thanks |

Re post#3 21:30:00 is 9.30pm The 'Evening Session' is made to start at 09:30:00 am and finish at 9:59:59 giving you the first half hour after open. The 'Day Session' then continues from 10:00:00 am on the hour until the close. |

Actually what is given in post #2 is a way to do this. It is not a perfect solution and can cause other unexpected complications with some studies but if it works for you that is good.

Well what TechTrader proposes does work but the last price bar does not display the price data completely. Since the stock finishes trading at 16:00 PM and each bar starts on the hour so the last bar should start at 15:00 PM but when that happens, the last price bar only displays the price information for the last 1/2 hour until 15:30 PM instead of 16:00 PM. When I set the last session to 16:00 PM, it adds an extra price bar to start at 16:00 PM and finishes at 17:00 PM and yes it affects my study signals. There is no way for Sierra Charts to match like what's in IB with the first bar starting at 9:30 AM but each price bar starts on the hour and the last price bar starts at 15:00 PM and finishes at 16:00 PM and the next day's bar starts at 9:30 PM. I think it's because Sierra Charts has each bar follows a fixed amount of time following the session start time for all instruments instead of allowing users to customize it for each specific instrument. I am going to have some choices to make regarding how I want the price bar to be processed. Thanks everyone for your help! |
