Freezing issues on one symbol only when DLL added

I have a DLL for a control bar that was added to a chartbook with one symbol. SC crashed and froze up on me. I had to close SC and reopen SC in which everything would work fine except when the DLL is added to that same symbol SC crashes/freezes up. If I open a Chartbook with the DLL already attached to the one symbol, then some text pops up that says "Calculating studies" but it just sits like that with the mouse pointer turning into a circle like SC is working on something. If I add the DLL to the one symbol chart, it just freezes up. I have tried deleting the Data .scid file, rebooting, reinstalled previous and back to new versions of SC and only that one symbol keeps crashing. Unfortunately its the one symbol I need. I tried it on another PC and had no issues with it. It seems that when it originally crashed on my PC it corrupted a file of the one symbol, or so it seems. Any Ideas on what I could try next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks |

It sounds like the custom study function is just doing continuous processing. But maybe not if you do not have a problem on another computer. The problem is almost certainly due to the custom study though even if you cannot reproduce the problem on another system. Thanks, but I didn't see anything there that would help with my particular situation of having the trouble on only one symbol which was working fine prior to the initial crash. There has to be a corrupt file I can delete.

We do not think there is any corrupt file. There is no such file like that which is associated with the symbol. When there is a bug in a study, it can cause all kinds of unusual problems and only occur under certain conditions which makes the problem seem random. Provide the DLL file here and we will test it and see what we find out. Assuming we can reproduce the problem. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support.
