Hi, is there a way for the dom to show the theoretical average on the current trade until it gets flat...

e.g. if you enter at price 100.00 with 2 lots... and say you scale at 100.10, At that point the theoretical average should be 99.90. If I add 1 again at 100.05 and scale it again at 100.10, then theo goes to 99.85.

Can I achieve this sort of indication on the Sierra dom please like bookmap?

Thank you

I don't really understand what you wrote in those pages, Sierra.

What the original poster wants (and me too) is this:
buy 1 at 100
buy 1 at 106
theoretical avg is 103
exit the 106 at 110
theoretical avg is 96

This is supported at the moment?

I think this would be great to have plotted on a chart as well with a dynamic line that shows the historical theoretical avg change.

With kind regards,
MK

The documentation we linked to describes the Flat to Flat Average Price for Position Line which you can optionally enable.

If that is not what you are looking for, then refer to:

Hi MidKnight,
I'm not familiar with theoretical avg. Could you show the calculation of your example? how did you derive 94?

Thanks

Hi PrevVal,

Sorry, I made a mistake and meant to type 96. The initial post has been edited to reflect.

With kind regards,
MK

Hi again Support,

As I mentioned initially, I don't really understand what you guys wrote on those pages. Your documentation would be clearer if they had a simple example on it like I wrote above. Can you tell me if my previous example is currently supported and if so, what do I have to do to get it on the screens?

I had previously read your Flat to Flat avg price write up but it says this:
"The Flat to Flat Average Price changes as new order fills are made. Exit fills have no effect until the Trade Position goes to 0"

As you can see in my example, exit fills do affect the theoretical average.

Lastly, your reference to the 'Notice Suggestions' thread was for? Or maybe you are implying, our plate is full and we won't do it. I don't know....

With thanks,
MK

TO MidKnight:

do you realise that

1) you have hijacked my post
2) was offensive with sierra staff

Do u really think they are going to introduce MY suggestion with this attitude? Be nice to people if you want them to be nice to you.

Now that I got that out of the way.

TO Sierra:

I did try to use your Flat to Flat Average Price for Position Line but it is not working as I have explained unless I am missing something.
What a theoretical average is, its simply the price to breakeven on an open trade. So it has to take into consideration any profits/losses made on scaleouts. When I had this option switched on, I don't see the average moving after I scale. Am I missing something?

So for example if average moves in your favour when you are in profit on a scale, example, if you have 2 lots... and I scale 1 at 3 ticks profit... my theo is your entry position -3 ticks (IE the breakeven point on the open trade.

Thank you

I am also looking for theoretical average.. it would be very simple to program/calculate. its simply the average entry price - realised PNL from the trade.. gives you the break even price for the current trade.
If anyone knows how to implement that, please post.

If you have Scale In and Scale Out turned on in the Trade Window/Menu/Orders/Support Scale In (Support Scale Out) it does exactly what's been described above as far as I can tell. The only downside is bracket orders now sit on your PC instead of the data providers servers as you scale into and/or out of your position.

Not at all scott. Scale in and scale out have nothing to do with theoretical average.

My mistake, it looks like I misunderstood your request. I see what you're looking for now. Good luck with your request, it looks like it would be a worthwhile addition.

BTW, if you want a response from the Support Team, you should probably start a new thread as this one is marked as User Discussion and they may not read it.
