I have one ray template that I ONLY use for alerts. When I set up a default for that template, configure the Alert and save the template, the Chart Drawing Alerts settings I want to be part of that template do not save and I have to go in every time and manually set them. The same is true for "Enable Alert for Chart Drawing". Is there a way to save the Enable Alert and Chart Drawing Alerts settings as part of a template? Date Time Of Last Edit: 2017-01-13 19:47:27

You need to follow through the instructions here: Chart Drawing Tools: Configuring a Default Chart Drawing Alert Condition You need to make sure that you set the default Chart Drawing Alert configuration through Global Settings >>Tool Configs. I set the "Global Settings > Tool Config > Ray" color, line and Alert configuration to the desired settings and saved them as TC8. When I close and reopen the settings they are all show up properly (including the Alert settings.) When I then go to a new chart, draw a ray and load TC8. The settings load except for the Alert Configuration. The Chart Drawing Alert dialog box shows "Enable Alert For Chart Drawing" without a check mark and the other Alert settings in the dialog box are at their defaults, not the way I set them in Global Settings. I renamed the Sierrachart directory, downloaded a fresh copy of the current software release and did a brand new installation. The exact same problem occurs. Am I missing something? We do not see a problem with this. When I then go to a new chart, draw a ray and load TC8.
Make sure that Current Tool Configuration 8 is first selected before performing the Ray drawing. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Actually the way this works is described at step 7 here: Chart Drawing Tools: Applying Predefined Tool Configuration to Existing Chart Drawing Using Chart Drawing Menu If you see an inconsistency with the documentation, let us know.
