Good Morning, I have studies from two tick charts on a third tick chart using the Study/Price Overlay. Then I have color bar alerts on these studies in the third chart. It seems I have to refresh the chart to get the alerts to fire(plz see attached). I do have the "Fill Blanks to Last Value" and "Copy Source Data to Latest" to yes. Your thoughts appreciated. Cy |

This is an advanced usage question which is outside the scope of our support and it is a chargeable request but we really cannot take any advanced analysis requests like this at this time.

Not sure if it will make a difference but it might help to set the following study Input as follows: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudyPriceOverlayStudy.php#BarTimeMatchingMethod = Containing Match But in general, this is a very advanced analysis request. There is no way we can help with it properly just with the information provided. But please do not provide any further information because this is a chargeable request and we cannot take anything new now. Unless you want to provide information for other users. We gave this a little more thought and while we cannot analyze your specific case, there are three potential issues. Two of them are documented here: Study/Price Overlay Study: Inconsistent Dependent Results Between Full Calculation and Real-Time Updating Study/Price Overlay Study: Data Changing at Chart Bars Earlier Than Being Referenced in Source Chart And the other potential issue although we are not necessarily certain if it could be an issue is if this Input is not set this way: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/StudyPriceOverlayStudy.php#BarTimeMatchingMethod = Containing Match Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Many thanks for the second look---I had the alerts already at the end of the series--so it might be the DataChangingAtBarsEar in that I am using the BetterlineBreak as a tick chart? As for the third possibilty--I tried this yesterday---am I going to have better luck with "nearest match" or "containing match?" Thanks very much. |

in that I am using the BetterlineBreak as a tick chart? Only you can answer this question.am I going to have better luck with "nearest match" or "containing match?" You need to look at the documentation for these, and you need to look at the chart data and the output of the Study/Price Overlay Study and come to your own determination. We do not know. You are best able to help yourself based upon the information we have given. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. -am I going to have better luck with "nearest match" or "containing match?" Although thinking about this some more, we would only recommend using Containing Match. This will always give a consistent and stable result related to what it does.
