Why does Renko as a study appear smoother than the Renko as chart option, given that both use the same box size? Does the study version use different set of data to the chart option?

The Renko studies are there only for back compatibility and are unsupported. Do not use them. They are based on the visible chart bars and not the underlying Intraday chart data.
