The connection between Sierra's trade DOM and TWS is a disaster. The connection doesn't work and I found it impossible to flatten a trade this morning. I had the same problem yesterday but nastier. When I trade with AMP there is a smooth connection and I have no problems, but IB is a different story. When you contact them they do not even know that Sierra exists. I will not give up Sierra because I think it is the best charting system of all. Any suggestions? Using Sierra DOM for both stocks and futures would be great if it worked seamlessly. But there seems to be a major problem with order flow or connection between the two. Fred |

In the case of futures trading we do not recommend using Interactive Brokers unless there is a good reason why you need to use it. In the case of stock trading, we are not aware of any other low-cost a viable alternative. It sounds like the problem you are experiencing is with the reporting of Trade Position data and this is explained here: http://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/InteractiveBrokers.php#TradePositionLineQuantityDisappearingDisplayingZero Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. As a long term Sierra user, and new user to IB, I had the same issues. IB's TWS is the most cumbersome trading platform I have ever tried to use with horrible price lag, poor execution, and ridiculously slow loading time. Instead of TWS use the IB gateway. Download it from IB...start it up....then start and connect Sierra to the gateway. I've had zero issues since.

Interesting you say that trader workstation has "horrible price lag". Generally we would have thought that the price lag would be minimal because they do not provide a full tick by tick feed. But anyway, we do not know. Just that we thought that was not a common problem. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Yeah...I was surprised...I've used many platforms over the years and my experience using trader work station was probably the most frustrating I've ever had. But using the Sierra dom hooked into the IB gateway has been seamless for me...even through fast market conditions.
