You may have noticed, that there have been several new versions released and several of them do not have any notes about them on the What is New page. There has been a lot of low-level development done relating to removing dependency on microsoft libraries and improving performance and supporting a new installer. There has been some bugs that have arisen from this development which we were not initially aware of and then when we became aware of these bugs, they have been promptly fixed and new versions have been put out. This is the reason for this. Some of the bugs center around existing code which was not written in the most portable and safest way and then with the changes, issues have arisen. We think at this point, the few issues that existed have been resolved. Also some of these issues relate to the new installer. Version 1414 corrects a small problem with an array bounds violation on the most recently used file list which would affect adjacent data in the data structure. In some cases this would be serious and causes stability problem in other cases it might be something minor. One effect of this is that Global Settings >> Mute All Alert Sounds was getting enabled. To be clear, version 1406 should not have had any issues. It was approximately with version 1407 and higher.

Interesting. But do some more evaluation. We would not have expected any obvious differences in CPU usage in most cases.

I made a mistake to download the latest version 1412. This is worse than the version 1304 for me, so I have downloaded version 1304 back. However it is now no more connected to IB. How to repair it?
