I wouldn't bother you with this, but I cant find any info on it. vs #1379 I want to color above and below a horizontal line I have in a Subgraph. I have my horizontal line starting at 9:30a at open of bar. I want to color above it through out the day one color, and below in another color. So I added the "Time Range-Transparent" study. I started it at 9:30 and forward projection. I chose the "Trans Fill to Zero" Draw style, and Auto-Coloring "Based on +/-" Obviously its coloring above/below zero I can't figure out how to get it, or find any other study to do above/below the horizontal bar which is the open at the 9:30 bar. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-05-12 18:07:47

Use this study: https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TechnicalStudiesReference.html#s153 The Study Reference input needs to be set to the Horizontal line. Thx, its not working for me. I set "Based on" to my Subgraph, and "Input Data" as the same.(its a Cumulative study line) Study Ref=the Horizontal Line I want referenced. Color above/below. Output Input Data Values=No, and Displacement=0 Chart region is the correct subgraph (#3) I think the problem might be in what I have in the Subgraphs Tab. I have "Color Bar" as the "Draw Style" (also tried: Line-skip zeros and changed Auto coloring to +/-) I have "Auto Coloring as "none" ______ I think I've tried all configurations. +/- Auto-coloring, Trans Fill to Zero, etc. But still no colored background (I have the default green/red as colors) Since the "Color Bar" is a Horizontal Line, I would assume I have to recognize to tell it above and below it. |

Not sure exactly what you want to do but the Based On setting should be set to the Main Price Graph if you want to compare a horizontal line to the price bars.

No, Its a SUBGRAPH. The Subgraph is "Cumulative Sum of Study". It's a Line. I have a "Horizontal Line in Time" starting at 9:30. I want the background above that line in one color, and below that line in another. So unless I'm mistaken, it should be base on that "Cumulative Sum of Study. Correct? |

As you can see. I have the "Time Range Highlight" on the SUBGRAPH "Cumulative Sum of Study" that colors background above/below zero. I want it to color above/below the (yellow) open horizontal line. Thx http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1463162398555.png |

As we are working through this, we come to realize we misunderstood what you wanted and this is an advanced request which is not within the scope of our support. We cannot spend further time on this. Possibly a way to do it without custom programming but not totally sure. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Crtfyd If I have understood you correctly, this can be achieved by selecting the Horizontal Line at Time study and then applying two alerts: Horizontal Line at Time Based on Main Price Graph Chart Region 2 Input Data = Open Start Time = 09:30:00 Use Stop Time = Yes Stop Time = 23:59:59 Draw Style = Dash; Solid Alert 1 (for color above line) Select study Color Bar Based on Alert Condition Based on = ID1 (Horizontal line at Time) Chart Region = 2 Scale = Same as Region Select Draw Study Underneath Main Price Graph Select your color of choice Draw Style: Trans. Fill Rect Top Alert Condition =ID1.SG1 (or whatever ID the Horizontal Line at Time occupies) Alert 2 (for color below line) As Alert 1, except Draw Style: Trans. Fill Rect Bottom Hope this helps. |

Thx Glyn. No, that doesn't work. The Charts don't seem to have the ability to color above/below a line in a Subgraph. I've tried many "alerts", "based on", and nothing will work. The only thing that will color background in subgraph was using "Trans fill to Zero". Zero does me no good. |

Crtfyd I am able to color above and below a line in a subgraph. Attached is a screenshot with a simple moving average study in region 2. The 9:30:00 Timeline is marked in Region 1 with a yellow bar. http://www.sierrachart.com/image.php?Image=1463425629526.png |

Glyn, I guess I should not had said "no line" will work. ;P Those previously discussed parameters and solutions by engineering and you did not work for me. Maybe because it is a "Cumulative Sum of Study" (I found a lot of things seem to not work with a subgragh of another study) or whatever. Regardless, I got it to work. Sometimes the simplest thing is right under our noses. This is what I did. I just took that "Horizontal Line at Time", and duplicated it. Then I just changed the "Draw Style" to "Trans Fill Rect Top" (with appropriate color)in one, and "Trans Fill Rect Bottom" in the duplicate. LOL That's it. Thanks for the imput. |
