a color study on kaufman works well on all time frames with the exception of tick chart. I am simply trying to color bkgnd green on +1 and red on -1. does tick chart require something special here or am I doing something wrong?

We do not understand this.

We do not know what studies you are using, exactly what you are doing, what data is in the chart, and why you expect to see the results that you do.

We have absolutely no idea about this.

You will have to be much much more specific about this.

it works on 2 ticks but does not work on 5 ticks. If you can not duplicate I will find a way to post image. On my test set up, it is a barebones setup

The result of the formula you are using with the Color Background Based on Alert Condition is going to based upon the values of the study it is referencing.

It is not within the scope of our support to be answering questions about the data output of the study. It is what it is.

We cannot provide any further help with this. If you think the study is not providing a correct result, we need a very detailed mathematical explanation as to why with references to the formula.

Hello,

Please rest assured I fully understand what is within the scope of your support policy and what is not.

I am a sophisticated person and post only what is within your support policy.

MAY I REQUEST THAT GOING FORWARD YOUR PERSUMPTION BE THAT IF DO NOT SEEK HELP THAT IS NOT IN YOUR SUPPORT POLICY?

Here it seems to be a bug in the software. Math is real simple here and not the issue. You should be easily able to duplicate it.

The problem occurs only on tick charts and NOT in other time frames. In tick charts, some combinations of settings work RANDOMLY while other do not. Some settings that did not work yesterday are working today while some settings that worked yesterday are not working today.
Please try a variety of settings with tick chart and you will se the issue.

Hello,

You will be glad to know I have temporarily resolved the problem. The problem occurs when a large number of bars are set in the settings.

We do not understand this.

Regarding the Kaufman Adaptive Moving Average Binary Wave study. We had a look at the source code and we do not see any obvious problems.

So we need a detailed explanation as to why it appears not correct at certain bars. You can do this by adding the Moving Average-Adaptive study to the chart and also the Standard Deviation study based on the Moving Average - Adaptive study and explaining what the problem is.

Here is the relevant documentation:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_ChartStudies.html#BasedOn

We see no indication at all why there would be any random behavior. The result you see is going to be completely definite and stable based upon the underlying data and the calculations.
