Is it possible to use a separate data provider and broker on the same chart, while having the Chart DOM connected to the broker and the chart data being linked to the data provider? I like to use the Chart DOM to trade, and I want to be able to use a data provider that is not offered by my broker. Thanks. |

This is going to severely hamper my trading as I move onto a separate data feed and broker setup. Is this something that Sierra Chart can support in a future update? It would be extremely beneficial for those like me who use the chart dom. The chart dom is an excellent feature, but this limitation is very frustrating. Thank you. |

What data feed do you want to use?

I want to be able to use CQG from an AMP account as my data provider for the Nikkei 225 Mini (osaka), and Interactive Brokers for trading.

This can be done using an outdated method but the documentation for it has been removed. It is not something we are going to spend any further time with. Although this kind of capability will eventually be added for IQ Feed in the same way in which it works with the Sierra Chart Exchange Data Feed but it is not currently supported with CQG. And although CQG is not perfect, using CQG FIX for trading is going to be more reliable than Interactive Brokers. Interactive Brokers simply just makes us nervous. It point-blank is a substandard API which has various problems which you might encounter. Generally everything is fine most of the time but there are issues. I'm not sure why the OP is actually making it overcomplicated like this. They can use either IB for both or CQG for both and be perfectly fine. My bet is they want to use CQG for data because it's more accurate than IB's filtered tick data but also want to use IB for some other monetary related reason.

I am not trying to overcomplicate issues. CQG is a great data feed. IB is a great broker, but extremely poor data feed. I am trading off the 5 minute chart, and scalp many times during a trading session. I rely do need great real time data and great commissions. I think it would be a great feature to be able to "attach" a chart dom from one instance of Sierra (the broker instance) to the chart of another instance of Sierra (the data feed instance). I know this doesn't make much sense for the majority of Sierra users who are trading American or European instruments, since they can simply subscribe to Sierra data, but for instruments like the Nikkei 225 Mini on the Osaka Exchange, or KOSPI 200 on KRX, it is impossible to get good data to use with Sierra and still trade through IB. |
