Hi, I have created a Default Spreadsheet with multiple tabs bringing in information from the charts as its source. When I delete an unwanted tab it brings the source data into the next tab completely superimposing the data on the prior work I had done in the spreadsheet. How do I recover my old spreadsheet before it was superimposed by the new data. This has occurred multiple times and I keep losing weeks of work. Can you please help me recover my data and have it set up properly so it doesn't happen again? I would appreciate it. |

Update Sierra Chart to the current version and use New Spreadsheets to avoid this. This is a problem of Old Spreadsheets and those are no longer supported. To avoid this problem, simply do not do what you are doing by deleting one of those Sheets. If you do delete a Sheet like you describe, then you just need to close the Spreadsheet without saving it and reopen it to restore it back the way that it was. You should also make backups of your Spreadsheet files every day and keep them in a separate folder.

I downloaded the newer version and it totally screwed up my Spreadsheet with links, fonts and color setup I had. I can't even setup links from one sheet to the data sheet. Before I would type "=" and link to another sheet. Now I can't do that. How is that don't on the newer version? The spreadsheet I had saved comes up with all types of column misalignments. How can a software upgrade not be able to bring up a previous version and not allow linking from one spreadsheet to another? I don't even see the Hyperlink function. That is two weeks of work now lost even with the saved file. |

Converting from Old Spreadsheets to New Spreadsheets is not necessarily trouble-free. It will require some work on your part. It is not a completely automatic process. And sometimes the conversion of an Old Spreadsheet file to a New Spreadsheet file can fail. The best approach is to install a new copy of Sierra Chart in a different folder and in your available time gradually migrate to New Spreadsheets and just start with New Spreadsheet files. More information can be found here: Differences Between New Spreadsheets and Old Spreadsheets I downloaded the newer version and it totally screwed up my Spreadsheet with links, fonts and color setup I had.
Yes, this is true. These properties will not copy over. Although we do not know what you mean by "links".I can't even setup links from one sheet to the data sheet. Before I would type "=" and link to another sheet. Now I can't do that.

We apologize for not giving you the proper recommended procedure for migrating to New Spreadsheets which is installing a second version of Sierra Chart and gradually migrating over. So what you can do is go back to Old Spreadsheets now on your main installation of Sierra Chart by downloading 1307: https://www.sierrachart.com/downloads/SierraChartSetup.exe Everything will come up the same because your Old Spreadsheet files are still intact. And then as you have time you can gradually migrate to New Spreadsheets. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. Here is what I'm trying to do. I need to get information from the data sheet. I need the TPO And Volume Profile Information to be referenced to a Summary sheet. How can I reference this information? Can it be reference to an Excel sheet and have the dynamic data link and stay current? I have worked with the new Spreadsheet and it is not even referencing the TPO and Volume Profile and staying current. Furthermore, I can't even take two reference data from the TPO and Volume Profile and add or subtract in the summary sheet.. I was able to do this in the old spreadsheet. In the year 2000, I was able to pull data from a quote service and DDE it into Excel. We are in 2016 and SC cannot just pull simple data into an Excel spreadsheet and stay current? Is there someone I can call, because I have been trying to get your default spreadsheet to work for a couple of years and it does not? A simple solution is allow data from the source data sheet to simple be brought into Excel and stay current. It would save so much time. Let's work together to get this done. I need a solution. |

Do you need to use Excel? We do not provide support for using Excel. It is possible for a formula in one Sheet to refer to data in a cell in another Sheet within the same Spreadsheet window. We can help you with that with remote assistance if necessary, but really it is very simple. We can help you in the late afternoon. Make sure your current telephone number is set here: https://www.sierrachart.com/usercp.php?page=ManageAccountInfo In the year 2000, I was able to pull data from a quote service and DDE it into Excel. We are in 2016 and SC cannot just pull simple data into an Excel spreadsheet and stay current? We provide reliable solutions that we can support, and this is not possible with Excel. If you are looking for Excel support, we do not provide that and never will. Instead we can help you with the Sierra Chart built-in spreadsheets. If there is something missing that is not difficult for us to add we can do that. Sierra Chart Support - Engineering Level Your definitive source for support. Other responses are from users. I need to let you know that we are not going to be able to fix this today because the programmer who worked on this area of code will not be back until Monday. The basic problem is sheets which are referencing another sheet are not getting notified that there are updates. We apologize for this but we will start on it Monday morning.
