I've read in past posts that SC may or may not adopt other OS. But I see that I can run SC on Linux with Wine. My question, Is there any pitfalls in using Linux with SC at this time?

Yes there are definitely pitfalls. The performance is not as good and there can be stability problems.

Microsoft is including BASH Shell in Win10. SC going to Linux is more mainstream idea than ever! http://techcrunch.com/2016/03/30/be-very-afraid-hell-has-frozen-over-bash-is-coming-to-windows-10/
