Hello,

I was looking for my trading activity log for this year, but it is all completely gone. My trading activity for 2015 is still there, but I can't get my current activity to pull up. I've made sure it's on the right date, Non-simulated, right account, etc and it's still not coming up. How do I get this information back?

Refer to this section here about this:
https://www.sierrachart.com/index.php?page=doc/doc_TradeActivityLog.php#MissingTradeActivityAndBackupFiles

You are running an older version of Sierra Chart and we are not sure if the version you are running, makes automatic backups of the Trade Activity Log file.

If not, then update as soon as you can to the current version of Sierra Chart.

So there's nothing I can do to get that history back? That's pretty frustrating. I use that information to track my results all year. I tried to use the trouble shooting guide and nothing is working. I'm also up to date on the most current version of Sierra Charts. I don't understand why that information was there Friday but completely gone today?

Do you have a backup of the TradeActivityLog.dat file?

Maintaining a backup is always absolutely critical. This is something that you must take responsibility for do not rely upon us or anyone else. You the user, are responsible for your own data.

What TradeActivityLog files are in the Sierra Chart program folder?

It is really hard for us to say what went wrong because we do not know exactly what you were doing and there are no backup files to look at. Maybe the file became partially corrupted.

There have been improvements in the newest versions to skip over corrupted portions of the file but you were running an older version.

I have tradeactivity files all the way up through the 18th. I've attempted to save the most recent ones but nothing appears whenever I do that.

Privately attach one of the Trade Activity Log files from the Backups folder. Attach the oldest one.

Here are instructions:

I haven't done ANYTHING differently. All my tradeactivity files are there. As of Friday, this all worked correctly. I attempted to save the most recent files into Sierra Charts and delete the number. So it's just saved as TradeActivityLog. That hasn't seemed to work either.

In this log, the last fill we see is dated 2016-01-07 10:56:00.000

Which corresponds to the date you stated.

So it seems as though if you restore newer Trade Activity Logs you will be able to see newer data. Can you attach a Trade Activity Log with a file time earlier this month.

The one from March 18 is the one you want to use.

Make sure when you restore the file, Sierra Chart is not running.

This is the most recent fill:
ActivityType  DateTime  Symbol  OrderActionSource  InternalOrderID  ServiceOrderID  OrderStatus  OrderType  FillPrice  Price  Quantity  PositionQuantity  BuySell  Price2  FilledQuantity  TradeAccount  OpenClose  ParentInternalOrderID  FillExecutionServiceID
Fill  2016-03-18 10:37:14.380  ESM6-CME  Rithmic Trading order update (Filled)  2623  20168043  Open  Market  2037.75000    1    Sell    1

It has fills throughout 2016 for the ES futures.

Looks like you are OK.

Let us know if you need more help.

Ok, that's the one I previously tried to load. I followed the step by step instructions. So I'm not sure if the issue is on my end or what. I'll try again right now and get back to you. I know I have to delete the number before the file name and drop it into the Sierra Charts folder

Right and make sure Sierra Chart is not running at the time.

There should be little trouble with this.

Also check Global Settings >> General Trade Settings >> Number of Days to Save in Trade Activity Log. You will see at least two settings. Make sure they are set sufficiently high enough. Make sure they are set to 1000.

Yeah I tried it again and nothing shows up in my trade activity log. Just to make sure I'm doing this correctly...

1. I made a copy of the file.
2. I placed a copy of the file into the main Sierra Chart folder and removed the number prefix from the beginning of it. I deleted the existing TradeActivityLog.Dat file.
Then I started Sierra Chart back up again. When I went to the trade activity area there was nothing there. I've tried this for older files as well. For some reason, if I go back to December 2015 it will load trades from those dates but it won't load anything for 2016.

I upped my number of trade day settings earlier to make sure, but they were already set at 700.

On the Trade Activity log it says the following messages...

"Requesting open orders from trading service"

A couple times before that it would say, "connected to server" or "disconnected from server".

The procedure is correct that you followed.

Make sure the "Today" check box at the top of the Trade Activity Log is checked.

What is described in post #17 is expected to see.

Everything is back! I woke up this morning, tried to load the information again and it worked. Not sure what happened overnight, but it's all good. Thanks for your help!
