Hello. When I want to scale out of part of my position I enter a market order in the opposite direction to the current position depending on how much I make the market order for. Since my broker doesn't allow long and short in the same instrument this closes part or all of my position. But I am getting EXPOSURE_CHECK_FAILURE when I don't have enough margin available to make a trade of the size I want to close even though no margin is needed as the transaction is only going to close part or all of my current position. How can I get around this. Thanks Date Time Of Last Edit: 2016-01-26 11:46:39

This is an LMAX error code: EXPOSURE_CHECK_FAILURE. The only advice we can offer is when you enter the order make sure there are no other current working orders. As stated, my whole intention is to close part or all of a current position so there will be working orders in the form of an open position, stop loss and take profit. The problem is sierra charts program or the way it communicates with LMAX server seems to think/make it appear that I am opening a new position when I am just trying to partially close a current position. When I do the exact same thing through the LMAX platform there is no issue.

Cancel both the stop and take profit orders before closing the Position.
