I recently started a new account with Amp Futures. They advertise on their website that Sierra Chart Package 3 is free to their customers. Today I received a message from your service that I had to pay for usage time. I contacted Amp and they assured me that Package 3 was free, and suggested I should talk to SC. Isn't the package 3 platform free through Amp, per their advertising?

We cannot comment on what a broker may offer. Sierra Chart is not free and pricing can be found here:

Pretty unhelpful response from SC. They definitely know AMP offer package 3 for free and there are other posts on this forum that show that.

You could also do a search of the forum and you will see other threads.

One trick to get it free that I encountered and had to resolve with SC and AMP; is that your SC account MUST have the same login and password as that which you use to login to the SC software and it must be the login that AMP supply you.

AMP need to supply you with the SC account already setup.

Max Rathberger was the guy at AMP who worked with me to get setup properly 18 months ago.

Thanks for the help User13668, I'll look into it. If nothing else, it's blatantly false advertising on the part of Amp. They've got "FREE" platforms advertised all over the front page of their website, and it includes the SC #3 platform.

It's not false advertising.

Right now I am using package 3 with AMP for FREE, and have been for 18 months.

"Sierra Chart is not free..."

This seems to contradict what you're saying. Lol

I believe you though. I used to get SC free with Velocity Futures, at least for awhile.

When looking at my DTS settings, I noticed I had the "Allow support for SC Data feeds" box checked. I think this is only allowed with a direct SC subscription, so that might be the problem. I'll get it solved, one way or another.

The free AMP version has many things unavailable and whited out on data connections and is good but it u want a better version of the #3 package u must monthly subscribe from Sierra Chart. SC version allows you many different services/data feeds. The free from amp works but I pay my own $24.00 per month for package #3.

You have to allow AMP to take care of all of the platform business because only they have the connection and relationship with SC. SC are quirky guys LIKE MOST Genius'and Brainiacs!

HINT HINT HINT:

Use the SC direct way, you will have more help if u ever need it!!

Just to pick up a couple of points from @Infinite's posts:

1/ The AMP free version of SC package 3 is the complete version. As Infinite says though you can generally only access data services that AMP/SC have allowed. So for trading that is TTnet, CQG, Rithmic etc. You can also access the SC Market Statistics feed (free), but you cannot run two installations of SC at the same time and you cannot access the SC CFD/Forex feed.

2/ It is probably a bit harsh to suggest you will get more help from SC if you are a direct paying subscriber. I can say that the level of support and help I get from SC is no different to what I see others receiving on this forum. I have no open or unresolved issues I am waiting on SC for.

I think when Infinte said 'complete version', he was referring to package 5 which comes with advanced features such as volume profile, TPO study and number.

Package 3 is a standard package.

Again I would skip the Free Version and buy your own subscription. If things are too tight financially to pay $24.00 per month, trading is probably not for you.

The $24 is really a better value than the FREE package from AMP.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Infinite: I can see where you stand on the Free vs. paid subscription issue. I've used both, and have had a paid SC subscription for several years now, however I'd like to have the option of the free version, which my broker apparently offers, and which I can use with other resources that are available. Broadband service, brokerage fees, data and platform fees, etc., the costs for trading can start to add up. It doesn't hurt to reduce expenses where you can.

Lastly, I've been trading for over 20 years, and I can assure you that trading is definitely for me.

One last thing, u cannot use the free version on another computer(2 different instances) at the same time...u can with the direct subscription.

Good luck to you, and no offence taken. I always try to shed light from the angles I have seen.
